BALLYHOURA RURAL SERVICES - BOARD & GROUP FACILITATION

Ballyhoura Rural Services (BRS) was originally set up to tackle rural isolation among older people. However, as it became more experienced it needed to grow and better define who it should help, how it could help and where it fit within the wider community sector.

McGarry Consulting carried out a one-day facilitation session with the board and then conducted, group facilitation sessions among the managers, staff and volunteers. This encouraged such feedback that supplementary sessions were required.

At the second session we used Quizdom interactive handsets to create a livelier & fun session which was important to counter possible consultation fatigue. Quizdom showed real-time responses to questions and allowed for analytics, which was useful to examine how participants opinions changed on issues before and after wider discussion of those issues.
